This is our first attempt to compress the huge audio file of one of Mama's shows into a more accessible Flash video.

This program originally aired on KPFA Berkeley on December 27, 1991, and shows off Mama's wit and political passion as she looks forward to New Year 1992. She interviews attorney John Mayer about Tibet and responds to listener's letters. Then she opens up the phone lines and a lively conversation ensues about the merits of socialism versus capitalism. Musician and longtime KPFA programmer Gorman Lee calls to wish Mama a Happy Kwaanzza, and at the end KPFA host Chuy Varela comes in with a terrible haircut, and Mama and engineer Janice Leber tease him mercilessly. Mama ends the show on a serious note, praising people who were politically active in 1991.
